Parents and Grandparents Sponsorship Program
Source Immigration is here to guide you through the process of sponsoring your parents and grandparents to live permanently in Canada. The Parents and Grandparents Sponsorship Program (PGP) allows you to reunite with loved ones and build a strong family foundation in Canada.
What is the Parents and Grandparents Sponsorship Program?
The PGP is an immigration program designed for Canadian citizens and permanent residents to sponsor their parents and grandparents for permanent residence in Canada. This program allows sponsored parents and grandparents to live, work, and retire in Canada.
Recent Program Updates (as of June 6, 2024):
- The 2024 PGP application intake has closed. Invitations to sponsor were sent out in May 2024.
- If you weren’t selected this year, you can consider the Super Visa program as an alternative (more on that below).
- Stay tuned for announcements regarding the 2025 PGP intake process. Source Immigration will keep you updated.
Who Can Sponsor Their Parents and Grandparents?
To be eligible to sponsor your parents and grandparents, you must meet the following criteria:
- Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident at least 18 years old.
- File an Interest to Sponsor form (currently closed, but re-opens annually).
- Meet minimum income requirements based on your family size for the previous 3 years.
- Sign an undertaking to financially support your sponsored family members for a specific period (usually 20 years).
What are the Benefits of Sponsoring Your Parents and Grandparents?
- Family Reunification: Build a stronger family bond by having your loved ones closer.
- Enhanced Support System: Benefit from the support and companionship of your parents and grandparents.
- Cultural Enrichment: Share your Canadian experiences and traditions with your family.
Alternative Option: Super Visa Program
If you weren’t selected for the PGP this year, the Super Visa program offers an alternative. The Super Visa allows parents and grandparents to visit Canada for extended periods (up to 10 years) with multiple entry privileges.
